PupBnBs ("we," "us," or "our") operates the PupBnBs platform, a marketplace that connects dog owners ("Guests") with home hosts ("Hosts") who provide in-home boarding for dogs. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our website, mobile applications, and services (collectively, the "Platform").

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide

  • Account information: name, email address, password, phone number, profile photo, and role (Guest or Host).
  • Dog profiles: dog name, breed, age, weight, temperament, medical history, vaccination status, medications, veterinarian and emergency contact information, and photos.
  • Listing information (Hosts): property address, photos, description, yard details, amenities, accepted dog sizes, pricing, and availability.
  • Booking information: check-in/check-out dates, messages between Guests and Hosts, and special requests.
  • Payment information: billing details processed through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number on our servers.
  • Communications: messages sent through our messaging system, reviews, and support requests.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

  • Device information (browser type, operating system, device identifiers).
  • Usage data (pages visited, features used, time spent on the Platform).
  • Log data (IP address, access times, referring URLs).
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies for authentication and session management.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To create and manage your account, dog profiles, and listings.
  • To facilitate bookings, payments, and communications between Guests and Hosts.
  • To process payments through Stripe, including destination charges and platform fees.
  • To send transactional emails (booking confirmations, payment receipts, status updates, and new message notifications).
  • To display reviews and ratings to help users make informed decisions.
  • To enforce our Terms of Service and protect the safety of users and their pets.
  • To improve our Platform, troubleshoot issues, and analyze usage patterns.

4. Information Sharing

We share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • Between Guests and Hosts: When a booking is made, relevant profile information, dog details, and messages are shared between the Guest and Host to facilitate the stay.
  • Payment processors: We share necessary information with Stripe to process payments, manage Host payouts via Stripe Connect, and prevent fraud.
  • Email services: We use Resend to deliver transactional emails on our behalf.
  • Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Safety: We may share information when we believe it is necessary to protect the safety of any person or animal, or to prevent illegal activity.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

5. Payment Processing

All payments are processed securely through Stripe. Hosts receive payouts via Stripe Connect Express accounts. We charge a $10 booking fee plus a 3% service fee to Guests and a 5% platform fee to Hosts. Your payment information is handled directly by Stripe and is subject to Stripe's Privacy Policy. We do not store your full credit card details on our servers.

6. Data Security

We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication via Supabase, optional two-factor authentication (TOTP), and row-level security on our database. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or to resolve disputes. Booking records and payment history may be retained for legal and accounting purposes.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access and update your personal information via your Account Settings.
  • Delete your account and associated data (subject to active booking restrictions).
  • Request a copy of your data by contacting us.
  • Opt out of non-essential communications.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. These cookies are required for the Platform to function and cannot be disabled. We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.

10. Children's Privacy

The Platform is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on the Platform or sending you an email. Your continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
